Messages to employees at DTU

Can you have a DTU purchase delivered to your home?

Having a parcel delivered to your home may seem convenient when working from home. However, items purchased on behalf of DTU must be delivered to a DTU address. Delivery elsewhere is an exception and requires prior approval from your immediate head of department.

When you purchase an item on behalf of DTU, DTU is the buyer. This means that, as a general rule, the item must also be delivered to DTU.

One reason is VAT. DTU cannot reclaim VAT on items delivered to a private address, which makes the purchase more expensive for DTU. As a public institution, DTU must also be able to document and keep track of its purchases. Requiring items to be delivered to DTU helps ensure that items purchased by DTU are also delivered to and used by DTU.

So, delivery to a DTU address is not simply a matter of where it is most convenient to receive a parcel.

Need delivery to a different address?

There may be situations where an item needs to be delivered to your home or another address outside DTU.

In these cases, you must obtain prior approval from your immediate head of department. The approval must be attached to the purchase order (PO) as documentation that delivery to another address has been approved.

According to DTU's Procurement Policy, the item must then be returned to DTU as soon as possible.

Remember when placing an order

As a general rule, always use a DTU address as the delivery address. If you need an item delivered elsewhere, make sure you have the necessary approval before placing the order.
