Claus Nielsen has been at DTU since February 2007, a time when the university experienced significant growth and expansion, including the addition of several research institutions, e.g., the then Risø Research Center. Since then, the university has grown from just over 2,000 employees to today, with 6,500 employees and a turnover of approximately DKK 7 billion.

In connection with his resignation, Claus Nielsen says:

"DTU is a fantastic place, and it has been a great pleasure and honor to be a part of it. I leave DTU at a time when the university is as strong as ever – and with the potential for much more. I wish DTU all the best."

President Anders O. Bjarklev takes the opportunity to thank Claus Nielsen for his many years in the position: 

"I would like to thank Claus for being a good colleague for 19 years and for his contribution to DTU being as good and well-consolidated as we are today. I wish Claus all the best for the future."
