The national negotiations with the publishing house Oxford University Press (OUP) regarding reading access to e journals have reached an impasse. The Committee of University Directors under the Danish Universities has approved that the Royal Danish Library - National License Consortium will end the negotiations with OUP. This means that in 2026 there will no longer be full access to the publisher’s journals or to the Oxford English Dictionary.

There will still be continuous reading access to previous years’ publications in the various journals via DTU Findit. It is only the newest content published in 2026 that we will no longer have access to. In total, 390 journals from Oxford University Press will be affected.

When you search in DTU Findit for an article published in an OUP journal, that we currently do not have access to, you will only find a reference for the article, and you will not be able to download the full text. However, there will be a link to alternative options for gaining access to the article.

Oxford University Press in future

The Royal Danish Library’s National License Consortium will resume negotiations with Oxford University Press later this year, with the aim of exploring the possibility of a new licensing agreement effective from 2027. Consequently, the expectation is that the lack of access to articles published by Oxford University Press in 2026 will apply throughout the entire year.
