New DTU access to the Scite.ai Model Context Protocol (MCP)
- use with AI
DTU Library’s subscription to Scite.ai has been expanded to include Scite MCP, giving all DTU students and staff access to this feature.
Scite MCP enables AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini to search scientific literature directly through Scite’s database. The database includes both open access content and content licensed by Scite through agreements with more than 40 publishers: Scite Data and Services
Scite.ai’s Smart Citations also provide insight into how research articles have been cited and discussed by other researchers, supporting critical evaluation of research findings—all through simple prompting techniques.
You can learn more at Scite MCP – Connect Your AI to Scientific Literature. The page explains how to connect your Scite account to your preferred AI tool, giving you direct access to relevant research literature through your preferred large language model (LLM). Scroll down slightly to find the setup guide.
Scite MCP supports a more transparent and research-based use of generative AI in education and research at DTU.

Keep an eye out for DTU Library’s “Using Scite AI for Academic Literature Searches” webinars this autumn, where we will also introduce MCP.
