Messages to employees at DTU

Would you like to test Linux as the operating system on your work computer? (Registrations are closed)

Update: We have now received the test users we need for the initial phase and are therefore closing registrations for the time being. There may be an opportunity to register at a later stage.

AIT is looking for 10 DTU employees who would like to participate in testing Linux as the operating system on their work computer. You can take part if you work in an administrative role, either within DTU Administration or at a department, and if you primarily use the Microsoft Office suite in your daily work.

The test will run from 1st of September 2026 to 31th of December 2026, and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Why We Are Testing Linux

One of the main purposes of the test is to explore opportunities for reducing our dependence on large technology vendors and strengthening DTU’s digital independence.

Linux is open source, providing greater transparency into the technology and the potential for a more cost-effective solution.

Getting Started

If you are selected as a participant, you will receive a test computer with Linux pre-installed. Before you begin, you will be introduced to the operating system, and AIT will be available to support you throughout the entire testing period.

When you start, we would also like to learn about your job responsibilities and the role you perform. This will help

us understand how Linux works across the different administrative functions at DTU.

Would You Like to Participate?

If you are interested in taking part in the test, please contact Henrik Windahl Knudsen from the IT Support in AIT at hwkn@dtu.dk. Please use “Registration for Linux Test” as the subject line of your email.
