Guide for the communication section in grant applications

Communication can attract awareness, but knowing who you want attention from, how to get it, and why is essential. This is crucial when outlining a communication strategy for a research project in the grant application.

Start by asking:

  • Who am I communicating with?
Identify stakeholders and each target group.
  • Why communicate?
Define the purpose behind your communication efforts.
  • What impact should the communication have?
Clarify how communication contributes to the desired impact of the research project.
  • Which existing channels can you use for communication?
For example, can you use your personal LinkedIn or business partners' websites?
  • When to communicate?
Consider specific occasions with communication potential and draft a timeline

Please don't specify products, such as a press release, until you have clarified your target audience and why reaching them via the press is the right solution.

Receive feedback and advice.

Get feedback on your communication section from the Department of Communication and Media before submitting your application. We can ensure that it is a realistic plan. We need your draft at least three weeks before the deadline.
