Projects in courses, BEng project, BSc project, and MSc thesis—extensions of deadline for submission
Projects in courses
For longer-term projects/assignments in courses, the student can request the lecturer extend the project period. The lecturer's decision is based on a practical assessment, e.g., concerning feedback/assessment to the other students on the course, the following course trajectory, beginning of new courses, etc., whether it is possible to grant extra time. If the student is part of a group, and if he/she can apply for extra time for his/her project work while the other group members cannot apply for extra time, the lecturer/course coordinator can grant extra time to the whole group.Graduate engineering project, bachelor project, and master's thesis - an extension of the submission deadline
Before the project beginsIf the period the student has been granted special arrangements for written exams also includes the period for a final written project (BEng project, BSc project, or MSc thesis), the student may receive up to 3 weeks extra time to prepare the project prior to the start of the project. It is up to the student to decide whether they want one, two, or three weeks. The answer to the application must be presented as documentation to the project supervisor. The extension of the project period must be registered by the supervisor in the Project Registration System (Projektindberetningssystemet) prior to the project's start date. For any questions, the SPS Unit can be contacted at specialexamconditions@adm.dtu.dk The student must be aware that DTU's rules and SU's rules do not coincide on this point.
After having begun the project:
In addition, the project writing student can also apply for an extension of the project period in the middle of the project period based on unforeseen events or disability and/or chronic disease that the student had not mentioned to their supervisor before the project began. The board of study can grant up to three weeks, while the Exemption Committees can grant extensions of the submission deadline in addition. See more under "Exam rules".
