Insurance scheme, social pensions, and unemployment benefits

Insurance scheme
The majority of collective agreements include an insurance plan offered to members through a pension scheme.

Further information regarding your personal level of coverage is available from your pension fund and is determined by the collective agreement covering your employment and your educational background.

The insurance plans offered through the pension schemes vary. Typically, but not always, they include:

  • Pension in the event of loss of ability to work (a part of your pension will be paid out to your children)
  • Death benefits (pension for your children, optional pension for spouse or partner)
  • Group insurance (lump sums)
    • Life insurance benefits
    • Disability benefits
    • Critical illness benefits
    • Accident insurance (JØP + DIP)
    • Disbursements are tax-exempt

Please note that you will not be granted the usual insurance coverages if you choose to have your pension paid out as salary!

There is a minor mandatory insurance fee and coverage if you choose to have your pension paid out as salary (see the Basic Group Life Insurance in the fact box to the right), including:

  • Cover on death (DKK 370,000before the age of 70)
  • Child’s sum (DKK 30,000 each)
  • Certain critical illnesses (DKK 100,000before the age of 70)
  • Certain critical illnesses for children (DKK 50,000)
