Guidelines for using AI

You must avoid using personal or sensitive data in prompts regardless of the AI tool. If you are working with confidential material, you should stick to AI tools where we have a data processing agreement with the provider. Find an overview here.

You may use AI tools for which we do not have a data processing agreement, provided the content is not subject to GDPR or otherwise critical to the business. If a breach occurs, you must report it either to the GDPR team or as an IT security incident via IT Support, depending on the type of information.

AI Governance

An AI Governance group has been established to develop a governance structure for the use of Generative AI at DTU. Until then, you can contact the following departments for guidelines and rules:
  • AUS – Guidelines and rules for students or teachers
  • AFRI – Guidelines and rules in research, overall GDPR responsibility
  • AIT – Cybersecurity and technical use of AI solutions
  • AKM – Press and other strategic communication about AI

Questions about the use of AI at DTU
If you are a DTU employee or student and have questions about the responsible use of AI, you can write to ai-questions@dtu.dk.
DTU’s AI project group will make sure your question is forwarded to the relevant unit.
