About holding DTU elections

At DTU, pursuant to Appendix 2 of the Statutes of the Technical University of Denmark, elections are led among staff and students for positions on DTU’s Board of Governors, Academic Council, Departmental Study Committees, Interdisciplinary Education Committees and PhD Committees.

The elections are held centrally. For each election, rules are prepared by the Election Board set up by the president of the university.

The intention of the elections is to ensure that, in addition to their everyday work, staff and students have a well-structured opportunity to influence the objectives and framework of the university’s operations and development.

The Statutes of the Technical University of Denmark stipulate that in principle:

• student elections are to be held every year
• staff elections every third year to the governing bodies
• and every fourth year to DTU’s Board of Governors.
  
  

The election is a secret ballot and takes the form of an E-election with votes cast using an electronic election system. The address for the E-election is published on DTU Inside.

Votes are cast by voters using their user-ID and Password (the same ones as for DTU Inside) to access the electronic voting system.

Votes are cast in each subsidiary election by placing a cross in the box next to the name of the candidate to whom the entitled voter wishes to give their vote (only one vote in each subsidiary election).

When voters have cast their votes in the electronic election system, their votes cannot be changed. The E-election is open around the clock during the voting period.

On expiry of the voting period, the E-election system shuts down automatically and will not accept any more votes.
