Evaluation panel and nomination of panel members

The evaluation panel

The panel consists of 4-6 members. The panel members must be top researchers at least at professor level.

The department can nominate 4-6 panel members based on the size of the department:

  • 1-200 staff = 4 panel members
  • 200-300 staff = 4-5 panel members
  • 300+ staff = 4-6 panel members

Your department will be asked to provide a prioritized list of suitable candidates for the panel.

The Research Office will invite the panel and be responsible for all contact. You may not contact the panel directly before or after the site visit.

When you nominate candidates for the evaluation panel:

Your department should keep this in mind when recommending candidates. The candidates:

  1. Must be recognized top researchers at least at professor level
  2. Should supplement each other in terms of fields of study
  3. Should be both diverse, i.e. numerous nationalities, men and women alike.
  4. Should preferably be international researchers, i.e. work outside Denmark
  5. Should preferably not have any active collaboration with the department – should be able to act as an independent objective agent.
  6. Can have been a part of a previous research evaluation.
  7. Can be researchers that your department wants to collaborate with in the future e.g. from one of DTU’s alliances.

The panel’s tasks

  1. Assess the current quality of the research conducted at the department
  2. Recommend future actions

The panel will do so based on the self-evaluation report, the site visit and their knowledge of the field, trends and international institutions similar to DTU.
