In 2026, the Otto Mønsted Foundation has allocated DKK 10 million for the remuneration of foreign visiting professors at DTU, CBS, AAU, SDU, AU, and RUC.

Departments may apply for funding for the employment of foreign visiting professors via the online application system at www.omfonden.dk/ansoegning during the period from 15 February to 15 June 2026.

The application must include information on:

• The visiting professor’s name, age, and place of employment.
• The duration of the stay and the specific period.
• Bibliometric research indicators for the visiting professor.
• The visiting professor’s field of study and its research significance for Danish industry.
• The visiting professor’s teaching activities.
• Opportunities for establishing new networks through the visiting professorship.
• The visiting professor’s significance for the department’s academic strategy.

The foundation supports visiting professorships of 3 months with up to DKK 75,000 per month, which may be used for salary or honorarium.

All visiting professorships are expected to take place in the period from late 2026 to late 2028, as a 3‑month stay carried out consecutively (if all parties agree, the stay may be divided into two periods). If any changes occur in the stated conditions or the specified period of the stay, please inform us.

Funding is not provided for travel expenses, rent, or administrative costs.

The visiting professor must be at professor level and contribute to building elite teaching. The foundation places emphasis on the fact that the proposed visiting professors should not be repeat candidates from previous years.

DTU prioritize the submitted applications. In September 2026, based on the prioritization by DTU, the Board of the Otto Mønsted Foundation selects the visiting professors and research areas to be funded. In October 2026, all applicants will be notified of the Board’s decision.

The grants are transferred to the institution, which is then responsible for the financial administration. After the visiting professorship has ended, any unspent funds must be returned.
