Reach a wider audience with your research
DTU and Københavns Folkeuniversitet have partnered to communicate science and the latest research findings to a broad audience. You now have the opportunity to join the team of lecturers and put your knowledge into play for an engaged and curious public.
Since autumn 2025, DTU and Københavns Folkeuniversitet have collaborated to bring new knowledge to a wider audience in an accessible, engaging format. The ambition is to strengthen insight and dialogue around some of the most important issues of our time – from climate and energy to technology and society.
Now you have the opportunity to join the lecturer team.
We are looking for researchers from DTU who would like to give lectures in the spring and autumn seasons of 2027. As a lecturer, you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge with a broad and engaged audience, strengthen your communication skills, and actively contribute to the public conversation on current topics.
“As a lecturer at Københavns Folkeuniversitet, you meet a curious audience who are there purely out of interest – not because it is part of a curriculum or in preparation for an exam. This creates a very special energy and gives you, as a lecturer, the freedom to communicate the part of your research that you personally find most interesting,” says Maria Lanng, Head of Communications and Program Editor at Københavns Folkeuniversitet.
“I’ve Become a Better Teacher”
One of the lecturers is researcher Alexander Simon Thrysøe from DTU Physics. In the autumn, he delivered an almost sold-out lecture series on fusion energy.
According to Alexander Simon Thrysøe, Københavns Folkeuniversitet provides an ideal setting to meet society face-to-face. Here, he meets people who are not necessarily part of the research world, but who have come solely to learn more about his work:
“When you have to explain something like fusion energy to an audience without prior subject knowledge, you are forced to find the core of your field and leave the jargon behind. It’s a valuable exercise that I bring back into my own work, both in science communication and in teaching our students at DTU. I’ve definitely become a sharper teacher by teaching at Københavns Folkeuniversitet.”
“I hadn’t expected how much I would get out of it myself. The audience asks questions I never get from colleagues, and it offers new perspectives on my research. I leave feeling re-energized.”
