Creating and Structuring Modules
This tutorial shows how to create modules and submodules in your course, and how to organize your content by dragging items into place.
There are multiple ways to structure your course. Choose the one that best fits your course and teaching style. Below are three common styles: Structure by type, theme, or type.
Note: The examples shown reflect the student's view.
Follow these steps:
01
Go to your course content.
02
On the left side of the page, you will see an overview of your modules.
03
To add a new module, click “+ New Module”.
04
Give your module a title and description, then click "Save and Close".
Note: Without a proper description, your module will appear empty on your content page.
05
Your module is now created and visible in the navigation overview.
06
When you click on a module in the navigation overview, the right-hand pane will show its title, description, content, and any submodules/activities. You can also see whether the module is published (visible to students), or still in draft (not visible to students).
07
To add a submodule, click “Create New”.
08
Select "New Submodule", give it a title and description and click "Save and Close".
09
The submodule will appear in the navigation overview when you expand the module.
10
In the navigation overview, the alignment of each item shows whether it is a module or a submodule.
11
After creating modules and submodules, you can reorganize them by dragging the dots next to each name to reorder or nest items.
