Research Ethics Committee (DTU REC)
DTU Research Ethics Committee (DTU REC) supports DTU-employed researchers in addressing research ethical considerations in studies involving human participants and/or human data.
DTU REC offers advisory research ethical assessments and written statements for eligible studies that fall outside the Danish Research Ethics Committee system. The written statements can be used by researchers as documentation of institutional research ethics assessment for journals, funders, collaboration partners, and other external parties requesting or expecting such documentation.
DTU REC has been established as a 1.5-year pilot initiative starting in summer 2026 and will operate as a voluntary advisory support mechanism. DTU REC does not provide legally binding ethical approvals.
The DTU REC Inside pages are currently being developed and will be continuously expanded during May and June 2026 with guidance materials, templates, practical information, and FAQ related to DTU REC.
