Work and residence permit

As an international employee, unpaid guest researcher or guest PhD student at DTU, you must have a valid work and residence permit.

Depending on your nationality, there are different Danish rules regarding your rights to work and reside in Denmark. Corporate HR,
can guide you through the application process.

Special rules for Greenland

Non-Nordic citizens travelling to Greenland to work need a work and residence permit to work in Greenland.

Non-EU/EEA citizens

How to apply for a work permit and residence permit from the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration / SIRI for individuals who originate outside the EU/EEA.

EU/EEA citizens

How to apply for an EU Residence permit at The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) for individuals with EU or EEA nationality - except Nordic citizens - who will be working at DTU for more than three months.

Nordic citizens

Citizens of Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden are free to enter, reside, study and work in Denmark. They do not need a visa, work permit or residence permit.
