By 2028, the Impact in Many Ways programme will develop a more transparent, inclusive, and future-oriented framework for the assessment of researchers and research at DTU. The aim is to complement traditional bibliometric indicators with a broader evaluation of researchers’ contributions to DTU’s core missions: research, education, advisory services, and innovation.
The programme was launched by Provost, Christine Nellemann, to ensure that DTU aligns with the global movement towards more qualitative approaches to research assessment. This development is intended to safeguard DTU’s high standards of research excellence while maximising the impact of its research on society.
Accordingly, the programme seeks to recognise the diverse competencies of researchers and the wide range of responsibilities they undertake—from teaching and educational development to Open Science, research-based policy and advisory work, collaboration with industry, and engagement in public debate.
Five sub-projects are implementing DTU’s solution
The programme consists of five projects, each of which is working to establish consistent practices for recognizing and rewarding research and researchers.
- CoARA alignment
- Merit assessment
- Tenure Track
- Representation and societal impact
- Research evaluation
