Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
At DTU, we aim to promote a diverse and inclusive study and work culture with equal opportunities for all, as we believe that different experiences and perspectives contribute to groundbreaking research and education. And because we believe that it contributes to well-being. Therefore, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) are key priorities.
Imagine a group at DTU tasked with solving a complex problem in robotics. In a diverse team, there would be employees and students with various backgrounds and experiences, such as software developers, mechanical engineers, and design specialists of different genders, nationalities, ages, and cultural backgrounds. This group is likely to generate a wider range of ideas and create more innovative solutions compared to a homogeneous team of engineers with similar educations, experiences, and backgrounds.
The reason is that when we work in a diverse group of people, who do not necessarily share the same worldview, to offer new perspectives and ask curious questions, which can lead to new ways of thinking and innovating.
At DTU we talk about well-being. Therefore, we also strive for a culture where employees and students can express their specific needs, and where leadership is open to dialogue about them.
Diversity involves having different perspectives and skills within a team or organization. Equity means providing equal opportunities and respecting everyone regardless of their background. Inclusion entails creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued for their unique contributions, regardless of gender, physical ability, ethnicity, age, culture, or other factors.
"Focusing on DEI strengthens well-being, improves results, and attracts talents. As a responsible university, DTU must lead the way and ensure equal opportunities for everyone."
