PhD Scholarships with alliance partners
Every year it's possible to apply for a 2/3 PhD scholarship to projects with the following strategic partners and alliances:
- EuroTech Universities: EPFL, Technion, Ecole Polytechnique, TU/e og TUM
- Nordic Five Tech: Chalmers, KTH, NTNU og Aalto
- Cornell University
- Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
- Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)
- Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
- North Carolina State University (NC State)
- Tec de Monterrey
- University of Nairobi
- University of Queensland (UQ)
We reserve
at least three (3) scholarships for projects with partner universities that are
also
members of the GBA (Global Bioeconomy Alliance).This year
we also include:
- TalTech
- Imperial College London
- UC Berkeley/UC California with a special focus on Green Bioeconomy projects
Pease note:
- The scholarships only apply to the DTU PhD student.
- The grant covers 2/3 of a DTU PhD and the remaining 1/3 must come from other sources.
- The strategic partners will fund their own PhD in case of reciprocity with PhD students enrolled at both institutions.
As usual the scholarships are 2/3 Ph.D-scholarships, that are awarded where following criteria are met:
- Both DTU and the strategic partner contribute with and pay for a PhD grant
- The PhD student will stay for a longer period at the partner university
- Both strategic partners will provide co-supervision to the PhD students
- Co-publications are expected
- Applications to Horizon Europe or other funding sources are expected (see funding guides for inspiration)
- Other collaboration activities within education and research are likely to happen
Special joint PhD supervision agreements with selected partners
DTU has entered into joint PhD supervision agreements with EuroTech, Nordic Five Tech and UQ. Find more details here
Scholarship application
DTU holds one annual application round for alliance scholarships.
The deadline for applications is 29. May 2026 at noon.
To apply you must use the application form.
The application form must be submitted by e-mail by the Head of Department to alliancephd@dtu.dk
