Laboratory ergonomics
There are many parallels with office ergonomics.
Please note that using a mouse and frequent pipetting can cause the same injuries, so varying between these two activities is not always sufficient.
The greatest sources of ergonomic strain in laboratories are:
- Monotonous repetitive work—such as pipetting
- Work involving repetitive strain—such as handling screw and snap lids
- Work above shoulder height
- Work in awkward positions
- Heavy lifting
