Ergonomics at DTU
A healthy body is important in order to fulfil a specific job function, but also for general well-being and active participation in life outside the workplace. Fifty per cent of work-related injuries reported in Denmark can be attributed to body posture and strain, and many suffer pain as a result.
The occupational health and safety organization and ergonomic ambassador must contribute by actively and knowledgeably promoting a good ergonomic working environment.
CAS AB, in collaboration with DTU Purchasing, has selected a number of work chairs, some IT tools and ergonomic aids, which are presented and described in a dynamic catalog "Catalog of recommended ergonomic furniture and equipment". Almost all of these items can be viewed in the ergonomics showroom. Read more here: Ergonomi-showroom

If you need ergonomic advice in relation to your workstation, please contact your local ergonomics ambassador, see below.
What is ergonomic
Ergonomics is the study of how to take into account physical (and psychological) needs when furnishing a workstation correctly, and finding the best working positions.
You risk developing conditions of strain such as osteoarthritis, tenosynovitis, muscle infiltrations, RSI, etc., if priority is not given to ergonomic correctness, for example through:
- physical inactivity
- physically strenuous work
- heavy manual work
- monotonous repetitive work
- straining working positions
Correct ergonomics can make a big difference - bad ergonomics can be disastrous! It is not only your body that will thank you for giving priority to ergonomics. Correct ergonomic positions can make you more productive and improve your well-being at work.
PC work is currently the most dominant element in our offices, and RSI is a well-known condition. Other work procedures, such as photocopying, can also cause ergonomic strain which should be specifically evaluated.
Stress and conflicts in the workplace can make problems worse, as can noise, poor indoor climate and incorrect work lighting.
