FAQ
Is it possible to turn off fume cupboards?
To ensure that employees are not exposed to dangerous fumes, it is generally not possible to turn off the individual fume cupboards.
Normally, the amount of air in the fume cupboard will automatically be lowered when there are no people in front of the fume cupboard.
On newer fume cupboards, the hatch closure often operates automatically, however on older models the user must always make sure the hatch is closed and the light turned off when not working at the fume cupboard.
A pilot project is occurring now in B211 in relation to whether extinguishing of educational fume cupboards can be made completely safe from a safety point of view. Based on a risk assessment, ventilation factors, cleaning of fume cupboards, removing all chemicals and turning off fume cupboards are looked at, among other things. In addition, it must be clear that the fume cupboards are turned off.
It has not yet been tested whether fume cupboards used for research can be switched off, but when the pilot project in B211 has been completed, Campus Service and DTU Chemistry will share the experiences from the pilot project if interested.

Can we put an on/off clock on our coffee machine, so it turns down automatically on weekends and at night?
The supplier answers the following:
In general, it is not possible to optimize the energy of coffee machines that must be able to serve 1 cup at a time. This is only possible in the following scenarios, where a night depression is programmed, but not completely switched off.
The best thing to do, if logistically possible, is to minimize the number of machines. That is, find machines with high capacity and fast brewing and place them centrally so that as many people as possible can use the same machine.
The supplier recommends programming ECO mode on the fully automatic coffee machines (here there is a difference in how detailed the different machine types can be programmed). Ask your service technician to set up ECO mode at the next service.
For flask coffee machines, you can mount an on/off clock here.
