Advertisement management policy at DTU
- Advertisements displayed at DTU must not have discriminatory, obscene, or pornographic content, or commercial content without direct relevance to DTU’s activities.
- All advertisements must have a clear and identifiable sender.
- All advertisements must be DTU-related.
- Advertisements must not conflict with DTU’s strategic goal of promoting internationalization through culturally inclusive, secular and cosmopolitan campus life.
- Advertisements must be no larger than A3 and must not overlap the edges of the notice boards. Multiple identical advertisements must not be displayed on the same notice board.
- Advertisements may be displayed for a maximum of one month and must show a take-down date. Advertisements for specific events must be removed the day after the event has taken place.
Division of responsibilities and guidelines in connection with advertising policy
It is a difficult task to balance the ‘culturally rich and cosmopolitan’ with the ‘secular and DTU-relevant’. It is proposed that, in practice, the advertising policy should be managed by refusing religious, general political and commercial material, but allowing private advertisements for buying, selling and exchanging, recruitment advertisements from companies as well as notices about cultural, student-related events and educational policy election meetings at DTU.
On the basis of a memo from CAS dated 6 March 2016, it is suggested that the notice boards at DTU should be categorized as follows:
- Notice boards in common areas (auditorium buildings, canteens and the like)
- Notice boards in department areas
- Notice boards in student-run areas (S-huset, etc.)
- Tenant notice boards.
It is also proposed that maintenance of the notice boards should pass from CAS to the entity supervising the building where the notice board can be found, i.e.:
- Notice boards in the departments: the department.
- Notice boards in auditoriums and common tuition areas: CAS.
- Notice boards in common and outdoor areas (e.g. canteens, giant halls): CAS.
- Notice boards in student-run areas: PF.
- Tenant notice boards: the tenant.
The unit responsible must manage maintenance within the scope of DTU’s advertisement policy, but may also choose to be more restrictive.
The policy was decided and adopted by the Executive Board in February 2018.
