Ordered Overtime and Additional Work
When organizing work at DTU, there must always be a balance between the use of flex hours and predictable work tasks to avoid overtime/additional work. For example, flex hours must not be used if it can be anticipated that meeting deadlines may result in overtime/additional work.
Overtime/additional work is recognized only if all the following conditions are met:
- The work has been assigned
- The work occurs outside regular working hours
- Working hours exceed 7 hours and 24 minutes for full-time employees
Ordered overtime/additional work occurs when an employee has been specifically instructed to perform a defined task outside normal working hours. Overtime/additional work may be recorded on any day of the week. However, it is not possible to record absence and accrue overtime/additional work on the same day.
Management may require employees to take compensatory time off for overtime/additional work within the same reference period, for example, in the form of whole or half days off. Hours designated as overtime will be recorded 1:1 in DTU Fusion until the manager informs HR that the hours may be eligible with 50%.
The manager must determine the handling of overtime/additional work. As a general principle, DTU only pays overtime/additional work if it is assessed that compensatory time off will not be possible or appropriate.
A request with manager approval must be submitted to Corporate HR via the DTU Serviceportal, indicating whether hours should be paid 1:1, with +50%, or added to the flex balance with +50%.
Corporate HR will adjust the flex balance accordingly. Corrections are made once the request has been received, ensuring the correct flex balance is updated in the absence module in DTU Fusion.
