Travel insurance

Employees posted abroad are covered by the ‘Travel insurance policy for Danish government employees’ on the same terms as during official travel. Read more about travel insurance (in danish) and in Staff Administrative Guidelines (PAV - in Danish).

Employees with a permanent place of employment abroad may also be covered by the travel insurance for Danish government employees. This may apply in two cases:

• if the department/office, in cooperation with HR Law and Europæiske Rejseforsikring, deem that the employee is on an official trip for DTU, e.g. to DTU in Denmark or a third place, or
• if the department/office wants the stay/travel—which is not an official trip or a fully official trip—to be covered by the insurance.

Special rules apply (in Danish) when employees are posted abroad at universities etc. in the USA, and the institution and/or state require additional insurance cover.
