Travelling to high-risk countries

DTU recommends its employees to read the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark's travel advice before official trips and postings abroad etc., in particular when travelling to high-risk countries.

The various travel advice issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark provides information about special safety issues for Danish travellers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark's travel advice is indicative only. It is the responsibility of the individual employee to consider the information in the travel advice and the information provided by other sources (e.g. travel advice from other countries' ministries of foreign affairs), and—against this background—decide whether he or she wants to travel or not. For more information about travel advice, visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (in Danish only) or the website of the relevant Danish embassy.

Danish employees at DTU have the opportunity to register on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark’s List of Danes Abroad. The list enables the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark to contact Danes abroad in the event of a crisis, e.g. natural disasters, terrorist attacks, or armed conflict.  In such situations, it can be useful to get information on, for example, how to leave the area in a safe and quick manner.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark recommends that employees travelling to high-risk countries also register on the List of Danes Abroad for short-term stays.

DTU encourages its employees to register on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark’s List of Danes Abroad for both short and long-term stays abroad. You can read more on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark’s List of Danes abroad (in Danish only).

It is recommended that foreign employees at DTU contact their embassy to learn more about registering on similar lists in their home country.

When travelling to a potential risk area as a DTU employee, you must fill out the consent form. In this connection, it is important to emphasize that travels to potential risk areas are voluntary.
