Alumner på LinkedIn
Our main focus is to get people to visit www.alumni.dtu.dk and get them to register/update their membership profile there, so we have data and can contact alumni with relevant invitations, newsletters, etc.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to harvest/transfer data from LinkedIn to DTU's alumni database, but as far as possible, we register links to alumni's personal profiles on LinkedIn, so we can easily find them and see their job history, etc.
Is it a good idea to have a local LinkedIn group for alumni?
The consideration should be whether it provides value to run a group. It requires you to allocate resources to promote the group, manage members and content, and ensure activity in the group.
Be aware that LinkedIn does not provide group administrators with the opportunity to send messages to members of their group. Members will only receive notifications about new content in the group based on the settings they have chosen.
If your need is more about being able to send invitations, etc., to alumni at appropriate intervals, we can offer to send direct mails to alumni via DTU’s alumni database. It is also possible to include content in our newsletter to alumni.
