Influenza vaccination

DTU offers free flu vaccine to all employees. The Danish Doctors' Vaccination Service (DLVS) comes out to DTU and carries out the vaccination.

The offer of free flu vaccine applies if you have a DTU employment contract on the day of vaccination. This applies to fixed- and time-limited employment as well as hourly-paid and regardless of the duration of the employment.

DLVS sends invoices directly to DTU, which covers expenses for vaccination of DTU employees.

Students can use the offer against a deductible of 149 kroner, which is paid in cash or via MobilePay in connection with the vaccination.

Important information if you want to accept the offer

How do I do it

Book your time for vaccination (you should expect to stay about 10 minutes at the vaccination site after your injection)

At the vaccination you must bring:

  • DTU employee card (employee) / DTU student card (student). If you are employed but do not have a DTU employee card, you must bring a requisition (see fact box to the right) with a signature from the nearest manager.
  • Your yellow health card. Your health card must be used for registration in the statutory patient record.

Once you have booked your vaccination time, you will receive  a confirmation email from DLVS. In the same email, there is a link to cancel your vaccination appointment if you are prevented from attending.

Vaccination times on the campuses can be seen below.

I can not at the time there is a vaccination event at DTU - what do I do?

If you are prevented from attending the vaccination event at DTU - e.g. if your physical workplace is located elsewhere than the three campuses - you are until 31/12-2025 welcome to attend one of Danske Lægers Vaccination's/travel clinics throughout the country. See more about date and time here: www.sikkerrejse.dk (appointment required).

As an employee, when vaccinated in a travel clinic, you must inform the employer and bring a DTU employee card so that the invoice can be sent directly to DTU.

As a student, when vaccinating in a travel clinic, you must bring a DTU student card.

Can I be vaccinated during working hours?

Influenza vaccination is a free offer from DTU to the employees, and there is no requirement that you accept this offer. The time spent getting the vaccination can therefore not be registered as working time.

Vaccines and allergies

If you are allergic, it is a good idea to find out if you are allergic to the ingredients. This is especially relevant if you have previously had an allergic reaction to a vaccine. In relation to the flu vaccine, the most important allergens are

  • Are you allergic to flu vaccine?
  • Are you allergic to eggs or chicken?
  • Are you allergic to formaldehyde, ovalbumin, gentacimin/neomycin (antibiotic for treating bacterial infections in the group of aminoglycosides), cetyltrimethylammonium bromide or polysorbate 80 (if you are allergic, then you know it)?
  • Do you react violently to other vaccines?

If you are allergic to these, or if you have questions about the vaccine and your allergy, contact your doctor before the vaccination.

Other allergens related to vaccination: Substances/materials such as latex (gloves) can be used, which can cause local skin reactions. Talk to the vaccination staff or your doctor if you have any questions.

Other allergic diseases: Asthma, hives, hay fever and allergic eczema do not prevent you from being vaccinated against influenza. For asthmatics, it is usually advisable to get the vaccination.
