Smoking policy

Policy

DTU wishes to introduce a smoke-free environment for all employees, students and customers to prevent people from being involuntarily exposed to passive smoking.

DTU believes that a smoke-free environment is important for the health of employees and students, as well as for a good indoor climate and working environment.

Employees, students and clients must be able to frequent DTU without being exposed to unhealthy smoke.

Indoor smoking is therefore not permitted at DTU, while it is still acceptable to smoke outside. It is also not permitted to smoke in DTU owned vehicles.

Application

The smoking policy applies to all employees, students and customers.

Individual departments may decide locally to apply special regulations or facilities for outdoor smoking. At H/S "Dana", other local rules may be laid down and applied in compliance with the law.

Help to stop smoking

It will be decided locally, if any help to stop smoking will be offered to employees, and in which form and to which extent help will be offered.

Compliance

Violation of the smoking policy will lead to a notice from the management. In case the policy is violated repeatedly, it may have consequences for the terms of employment.

Approval and entry into force

The smoking policy was approved by the Executive Board and discussed by the Cooperation and Joint Consultation Committee (HSU) in March 2017.

The policy becomes effective from the time it is published on DTU Inside.

Termination and changes

The smoking policy can be changed at 1 month’s notice after discussions in the Cooperation and Joint Consultation Committee and the management and approval by the Executive Board. All amendments are to be communicated through DTU Inside.
