Villum Foundation

Scientific excellence is the sole criterion of evaluation - the excellence of the Principal Investigator (PI) and the excellence of the project.

The foundation does not support health research.

Main programmes

• Villum Investigator: Researchers (professors) who have demonstrated groundbreaking research at the highest international level for >10 years
• Villum Ascending Investigator (associate professors or professors, max. 5 years) in the mid-stage of their independent careers who have demonstrated scientific excellence, min. 9 years after PhD
• Villum Young Investigator: Talented young researchers wanting to start their own group, 2-8 years after PhD
• Villum Synergy: For 2 tenured PIs in an interdisciplinary data-driven collaboration. PI 1: data scientist, PI 2: domain expert
• Villum Experiment: For bold/blue sky research ideas that have the potential to change fundamentally the way we approach important topics
