Student advice and help

A student seeking professional or personal advice regarding a healthy and safe study environment has the following options at DTU.

Professional sparring

If students need professional sparring about the physical study environment and safety, they can contact their lecturers, supervisors, or technical staff. In case of doubt, these may seek help from the working environment organization.

Personal well-being

At the I Study Guidance Office at DTU, students can receive help with matters related to student life at DTU. The Study Guidance Office can help with questions about, for example, study planning, withdrawal from exams, or well-being. The student counsellors are DTU students and therefore have in-depth knowledge of the study environment.

Students can always contact them anonymously, and all student counsellors are bound by a duty of confidentiality.

If the Study Guidance Office becomes aware of problems that it cannot help with, it will refer the student to bodies in or outside DTU, including the Student chaplain og Student Counselling Service.

The student chaplain offers confidential consultations to DTU students.

The Student Counselling Service (SRG) offers free psychologist consultations to students. SRG is independent of DTU.

Offensive behaviour

If a DTU student experiences offensive behaviour—be it sexual harassment, discrimination, or bullying—the student may contact a number of bodies at DTU.

In the event of an accident

If students are injured or are involved in an accident or a crisis at DTU, the guidelines and rights are virtually the same as for DTU employees. Students are covered by DTU’s emergency response plan and evacuation procedure, and must register accidents and near-miss incidents in DTU Injury.

Insurance

PF and DTU have free insurance covering all DTU students against accidents, as long as the activities take place at DTU or in connection with a study-relevant excursion in Denmark. The students are themselves responsible for ensuring at any given time that they have the right insurance. Students are not covered by the Danish Workers’ Compensation Insurance Act (Lov om arbejdsskadeforsikring), as this requires an employment relationship.
