Baggage - delayed, stolen or damaged
Here you can find information on what to do if your baggage is delayed, damaged or stolen during business travel, as well as the rules covering special equipment such as laptops and research materials.
Delayed baggage
If your baggage does not arrive after a flight, you must report it to the airport’s baggage service desk and obtain a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). This report is required both to document the loss and to help locate and recover your baggage.
Stolen baggage
If your baggage is stolen, you must report the theft to the local police and obtain a copy of the police report. If this is not possible, make sure to record the police report reference number for use when filing your insurance claim.
Damaged baggage
If your baggage is damaged during a flight, you must report the damage at the airport and obtain written documentation. Keep the damaged baggage until you have spoken with Europæiske Rejseforsikring.
Special equipment and electronics
Laptops, research equipment and other work-related equipment are covered by the Danish government’s self-insurance scheme. If such equipment is stolen or damaged, the department is responsible for covering losses of up to DKK 200,000.
As a general rule, the insurance covers personal belongings up to DKK 15,000.
Before travelling, it is a good idea to take photographs of valuable items and record their serial numbers. This can be helpful when reporting a theft to the police or filing an insurance claim.
You may also be able to borrow property-marking equipment from your local police station.
