Pregnancy Absence

A female employee has the right of absence from work with salary due to preventive pregnancy examinations if such examinations can only take place during working hours.

In accordance with the confinement agreement, full pay is granted for pregnancy-related absence in the period prior to the notified pregnancy leave (incl. “omsorgsdage”, if any) if:
  • the pregnant woman is unable to work due to pregnancy
  • the special character of the work implies a risk for the foetus and if DTU has not offered the woman another suitable position
  • the pregnancy prevents the woman from carrying out her job and if DTU has not offered/cannot offer the woman another suitable position

Any other pregnancy absence, e.g. absence due to ordinary pregnancy inconvenience as sickness, indisposition, vomiting etc., is considered as ordinary illness.
