Ordering IT equipment and software

As an employee at DTU, you order IT equipment such as computers, monitors, keyboards, and mice by creating a case via the IT support. New IT equipment is handed out to the units once a week, and you will receive an email from the IT support with information about delivery.

If you need a work phone, it is ordered in the same way as IT equipment by creating a case via the IT support. Read more on the page work phone.

As an employee at DTU, you can  get an overview of the IT equipment that can be ordered via DTU's purchasing agreement in the IT catalogue.

Delivery and delivery time
We recommend that you order well in advance, as the delivery time can be up to a week and longer during holiday periods. For orders of non-standard equipment, it may take longer as it is not in stock.

Information when ordering
When placing an order, institutes and centres must provide the project number, task number, and approver. Administrative staff must specify their department

If you have special requests for e.g. a mouse, keyboard or other IT equipment, you can order or get advice via the IT support. If you need to order a server, you must create a case through the IT support.

Your computer comes with standard software and device-specific software. If you prefer it without any software, this must be agreed upon when placing your order.

Additional software

You can download additional software for your computer either via the DTU Software Center or via the Company Portal.

  • You can find the DTU Software Center either as a shortcut on your Desktop or by searching for it under 'Start'.
  • You can find the Company Portal by searching for it under 'Start'.

If you need software that is not available in either the DTU Software Center or the Company Portal, you must contact IT support.

License-based software

License-based software is generally billed per installation unless otherwise agreed. An example of this is Copilot365 or Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe CC).

If you have questions about which software is license-based, please contact IT support.

As a DTU employee, you are not allowed to purchase or take over used electronic equipment for personal use. This includes everything from computers and monitors to mobile phones and accessories.

The reason is that DTU, as a state institution, does not pay VAT on purchases. A resale or transfer to employees could therefore have legal consequences.

However, the equipment is not wasted. AIT ensures that phased-out electronic equipment is either reused internally at DTU or handed over to external parties who handle used electronics responsibly and professionally. You can read more about how we reuse electronic equipment here.
