Network and VPN

You can access the network/internet in several ways when you're on one of DTU’s campuses.

If you're working off-campus (e.g. from home), access to certain systems requires you to be on DTU’s network. In this case, you need to use a VPN connection or remote.dtu.dk.
To log on to the network using Cisco Secure Client (VPN), open Cisco Secure Client. Under ‘Network’, select the network from the dropdown menu and then log in. You will then be connected to the internet.
DTU computers will automatically connect to DTUsecure when you're on campus.

If you need to log in manually, use your DTU initials.

When logging in on a Mac, make sure the certificate ends with “.dtu.dk” and approve it before gaining access to the internet.

Eduroam is the preferred Wi-Fi for DTU students. It’s an international collaboration between educational institutions that provides Wi-Fi access across campuses.
You can use Eduroam when visiting other institutions.

Log in using your DTU initials/student number.

It’s important to set up Eduroam correctly by following one of these guides:

A guest connects to DTUguest by selecting it as the Wi-Fi network. A browser will open where a guest account can be created.
If a DTU employee has already created a guest account, use the provided username and password to log in.

A DTU employee can pre-create a guest account via guest.dtu.dk. It may take up to 15 minutes before the guest can log in.

DTUdevice makes it easier to connect devices with special network needs – such as info screens, IoT devices, or similar – to wired and wireless networks. You can find DTUdevice here.

Access

If your department is already registered in DTUdevice, contact your DTUdevice administrator, who can add, edit, or remove devices. You can see who the administrator is when you log into DTUdevice.

If you are a DTUdevice administrator, you can find guides under the ‘About’ tab.

If your department is not registered in DTUdevice, follow these steps:
  1. Create a DTUBaseliste for your department named ‘AIT-DTUdevice-[department name]’.
  2. Create a ticket for IT Support requesting to add the DTUBaseliste to DTUdevice.
Wired network is not available in all DTU buildings, as Wi-Fi meets most needs.

If you're in a building with wired network, check which type is installed.

If your building has the new DNA network, a login pop-up will appear when you plug in your computer. Log in with your DTU account. If no pop-up appears, your computer is not configured for this, and you will instead access the guest network DTUguest.

If you need help, contact IT Support.

If you have a device that needs wired network access but shouldn’t log in with a specific user, register the device via DTUdevice.

By agreement with your immediate manager, DTU employees can get employer-paid broadband at home.
