Work superviwsor (AL)

The local occupational health and safety groups in each University entity handle the daily dialogue on local working environment tasks on an ongoing basis. Each OHS group consists of a work supervisor and an OHS representative. The senior manager at the University entity appoints work supervisors to the OHS groups.

A work supervisor must actively contribute to ensuring that the working conditions are completely adequate in terms of health andsafety for the field of work which the person in question has been appointed to handle together with an OHS representative. This includes:

  • Ensuring that the working conditions are in compliance with the existing working environment legislation, as well as with DTU’s working environment sub-policy, and DTU’s guidelines.
  • Creating a visible management focus on the importance of constantly working for a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Promoting that the OHS group functions and works efficiently.
  • Participating in the preparation of workplace assessments (APV).
  • Inform and advise employees on working environment issues.
  • Ensuring that employees are aware of any risks involved in their work and that they receive the necessary instruction and training, as well as access to necessary protective devices and technical aids.
  • Monitoring the day-to-day working environment.
  • Assist in registration and analysis of accidents and near incidents aimed at creating learning in the University entity, and initiate improving and preventive actions and initiatives.
  • Ensuring that employees are aware of their instructional duty in connection with supervision and teaching of students.

The function of work supervisor is handled by a person who has knowledge of the University entity’s tasks and duties and who manages and supervises this. A work supervisor may participate in more than one OHS group, but—in such case—agreements must be entered into on delegation of managerial responsibility in the working environment area.
