Corporate Work Environmental Committee (KAMU)

The Corporate Work Environmental Committee (KAMU) is DTU’s supreme work environmental committee. The President chairs KAMU, which is composed of four management representatives (minimum two heads of department), four occupational health and safety representatives, an occupational health and safety coordinator, and two student representatives.

KAMU advises and supports DTU’s management on working environment issues and lays down the framework for working environment actions and initiatives across DTU.

KAMU meets regularly four times a year and on an ad hoc basis as needed. The main items from the meetings are communicated to the University Leadership and Management Forum and via DTU media. Minutes from the meetings are posted on DTU Inside.

KAMU’s working environment action plan and annual report

A four-year KAMU action plan is prepared every year, as well as an annual report (reporting on the action plan) for cross-organizational working environment actions and initiatives at DTU.

Drafts for the action plan and annual report are prepared by the Working Environment Secretariat based on input from a wide range of sources:

The University entities’ workplace assessments (APV) and action plans

  • Systematic working environment and safety screenings/rounds at the University entities
  • The annual working environment conference and other learning forums
  • Meetings in the OHS coordinator network (AMK)
  • Meetings in the Corporate Work Environmental Committee (KAMU)
  • The Psychological Counselling Service in AHR
  • New legislation
  • Orders from the Danish Working Environment Authority
  • Accidents and near incidents (individual events and/or statistics)
  • Sickness absence (statistics)
  • New knowledge/research
  • Inspiration from other universities

Proposals for the contents of the action plan are prepared by the Working Environment Secretariat based on the importance and topicality of the measures, as well as available resources. The goal is that the plan is realizable within the first year, whereas strategic objectives are of 2-4 years’ duration. The plan is available to everyone on DTU Inside and is revised annually.

Working environment policy and cases of fundamental importance

In addition to laying down the framework for cross-organizational working environment actions and initiatives at DTU, KAMU also discusses and deals with DTU’s working environment sub-policy and submits it to DTU’s Executive Board for final approval. In addition, KAMU can deal with cases of fundamental importance to DTU’s working environment, including on the basis of input from the OHS coordinator network. Cases dealt with in KAMU can result in several types of actions such as:

  • Decision on working environment actions and initiatives in the KAMU action plan for the coming year.
  • Setting up a working group to present proposals for joint guidelines for an area.
  • Call for action via the University Leadership and Management Forum, the info letter-DTU Work Environment Info or other DTU media (in collaboration with the Communication Department).
