Payment of salary
If you have specific questions regarding your salary payment or payslip, please create a case in DTU Serviceportal.
All residents in Denmark must have a NemKonto (Easy Account). Your NemKonto is a personal bank account which you have chosen as your NemKonto.
All public-sector payments are paid into your NemKonto.
DTU accesses the information in your tax files directly from Skat, so please do not send us your tax cards.
If no information is stored in your tax file, DTU are obliged to retain 55 % in income tax deducted at source as well as social security contributions of 8 %.
As of 1 January 2024, it has become statutory to report Tax Identification Numbers (TINs) on income disbursed to employees and fee recipients residing abroad.
DTU has an obligation to comply with this rule, which has been issued by the Danish Tax Agency, and we are not allowed to report (i.e. disburse) income to persons residing abroad without a TIN. Regardless of whether you are liable to pay tax in Denmark or abroad, your TIN must be provided when you reside outside Denmark.
TIN stands for Tax Identification Number, and each country has its own TIN system.
In Denmark, the TIN equals the individual taxpayer’s civil registration (CPR) number, and the individual countries can call their TIN something else. Because it is a personal number obtained from the authorities in the various countries, only the individual fee recipient or employee knows the number and can provide it in connection with disbursement of fee or salary from DTU.
There is also a statutory obligation to provide the TIN in connection with requests for reimbursements of sickness benefits or maternity/paternity benefits for persons residing abroad.
In principle, DTU does not pay salary in advance.
