Coordinating safety advisor for DTU
DTU has activities that include the transport of dangerous goods, and therefore DTU is according to the "Executive Order on safety advisers for transport of dangerous goods" obliged to appoint a coordinating safety adviser to assist with the prevention of the risks to persons, valuables or the environment that is associated with the transport of dangerous goods.
In more detail, the executive order applies to companies that transport or ship dangerous goods by rail or road, or which for the purpose of such transport fill in transport documents or classify, mark, package, load, fill or unload dangerous goods.
In addition to the transport of dangerous goods by road and rail, DTU also to a certain extent transports dangerous goods by sea (IMDG) and air (IATA).
Tasks
DTU's coordinating safety adviser handles the following tasks in particular:
- checks that the rules for the transport of dangerous goods are complied with,
- advises DTU in connection with the transport of dangerous goods, and
- is responsible for creating an annual report to DTU on DTU’s activities in connection with the transport of dangerous goods.
The coordinating safety adviser's tasks also include monitoring procedures and practice related to DTU's activities in connection with the transport of dangerous goods (cf. ADR).
All university units at DTU have the opportunity to contact the coordinating safety adviser for special advice and guidance. However safety advice in relation to specific tasks at the individual university units, which goes beyond the coordinating safety advice for DTU, will be settled and paid by the university units themselves.
In case of questions and need for general advice on the transport of dangerous goods, the university units must contact:
- CAS Sustainability - in the case of hazardous waste covered by ADR.
- CAS Working Environment and Emergency - in the case of other hazardous goods (non-hazardous waste)
- The unit's own safety adviser (some university units have a separate agreement on safety advice).
