Lapse of work and residence permit, non-Nordic/EU/EEA/Swiss citizens

Your work and residence permit is given on the basis of certain conditions. If you do not longer fulfill these conditions your permit might lapse.

If you leave Denmark for an extended period of time, or if you no longer maintain a residence in Denmark, your residence permit can lapse.

Your residence permit can lapse for three reasons:

  • If you fail to enter Denmark no later than six months after you were granted a residence permit
  • If you stay outside Denmark for an extended period of time

Unpaid leave of absence:
Please be aware of that if you have unpaid leave of absence your work and residence permit might lapse.
