Because of our location along with Danish Decommissioning (DD) working with the removal of the old nuclear reactors, the Risø area is still regarded as a nuclear plant. This means that everyone staying at the Risø area must be familiar with the emergency plans.
Each department has a local emergency group consisting of people who know the department and its eventual special risk factors. This group will also know the local emergency plans and how they relate to the general emergency plans of the university.
Next to most entrance doors, you find drawings of the building, indicating the escape routes, the gathering points and where to find the fire equipment.
Be aware that there are both indoor and outdoor gathering points. The outdoor point is used in case of fire, and the indoor point is used in case of a radioactive release.
Next to the evacuation plans you find a yellow poster indicating precautions in case of an accident, including how to raise the alarm, a list of the employees who know how to perform first aid, where you can find the nearest defibrillator etc.
If you hear a siren tone sounding in 20 seconds intervals, immediately go into the nearest building, listen to the speaker system, and follow the instructions. The siren alarm is used in case of radioactive emissions.
The sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12. Every year in the fall, there will be an emergency exercise in cooperation with DD, where the nuclear emergency plan is trained.
If a fire starts, dial 112 or press the fire alarm system installed at the entrance in most buildings.
Give precise information on where the fire is, and state your name.
If you have called 112 from a cell phone, please inform the gatekeeper at 4677 4444, so they can show the rescue vehicles to the correct location.
In case of fire, you will hear a message over the loudspeaker system stating where the fire is located. Always follow the instructions given. When the danger is over, there will be a speaker message telling you that the ”fire alarm is cancelled”.
In case of accidents, call 112 and give precise information about the accident and any first aid measures taken, state your name and where you are at Risø Campus.
If you have called 112 from a cell phone, please notify the gate at 4677 4444, so they are able to help the emergency vehicles to the right place.
